Put your place where customers walk in, not just near the address

On HERE, an address and a door are not always the same spot. On a corner, in a mall or behind a car park, the address point can land on a wall with no way in. Check that your place sits where customers actually arrive.

The address point follows the street in your address. Here it lands on the front wall, where there is no door.

Your place sits at the side door by the car park, where customers really walk in. That is the spot worth checking on HERE.

What matters

A pin near the address is not the same as the way in

People follow the pin to the end. If it sits on the wrong side of the building, they arrive at a wall, circle the block or call you from the car park.

HERE's own map tool lets anyone add or edit a place, with its opening hours and photos, and pinpoint its exact location. That last step decides which door people reach.

Do it once per location, then look again after a move, a refit or a new entrance.

Practical questions

Questions owners ask

  • How do I check my place on HERE?

Open HERE's map tool, find your business and look at where its marker sits. If it is off, move it to where customers arrive and add your hours and photos.

  • Why would the address point be in the wrong spot?

Many addresses point to a building or a plot, not to a door. Corners, malls, courtyards and car parks are where the two drift apart.

  • Do I need to check every location?

Yes. Each location has its own place on the map and its own entrance. One wrong pin still sends those customers to the wrong door.

When an assistant asks

HERE agent tools are in beta

HERE offers AI agents tools for places, routes and traffic through its Location Reasoning service, which it describes as open to beta participants. A beta answer that uses HERE is only as good as the place it finds, so the entrance you check today is the one an assistant can describe.

Status: beta, according to HERE

Two doors

At the physical door: customers who park, walk round the corner and find the way in on the first try.

At the digital door: maps, car systems and assistants that need the right point to send them there.
