Know when a map correction actually reaches drivers

Sending a fix to TomTom is the start, not the finish. Your report is reviewed, then accepted or not, and only a later map release puts the change in front of drivers. Knowing the stage saves you chasing a fix that is already on its way.

Accepted: TomTom has updated its database and is preparing the change for its maps. Drivers still see the old position for now, and the map update may take some time.

Fixed: TomTom says the change will be in its next map release. Drivers see the new position once that release reaches their app or car.

Not accepted: the map stays as it was. Check what you sent, add clearer details and report again if the map is still wrong.

What matters

Sent, accepted and on the map are different moments

TomTom's MapShare lets anyone with a TomTom account report a map error, such as a wrong position, a closed road or a missing place.

Each report then shows a status. Pending means it is under review. Accepted means TomTom has updated its database. Fixed means the change is due in the next map release. Not accepted means nothing changes.

So when a customer still gets the old route after you reported it, the report may simply be waiting for its release. Check the status before you report the same thing twice.

Practical questions

Questions owners ask

When an assistant asks

TomTom agent tools are in public preview

TomTom offers a remote MCP server in public preview that lets AI agents search places, plan routes, read traffic and show maps with a TomTom API key. These tools read TomTom's map, so an assistant using them in public preview finds the same position drivers see, old or corrected.

Two doors

Customers at your physical door.AI agents at your digital door.

At the physical door: drivers who pull up outside your shop, not two streets away.

At the digital door: navigation apps, car systems and assistants reading the same map.
